Golf Cart Rules

Important

Age Requirements

You must be 18 years of age or older to rent a golf cart from the pro shop. You must be at least 14 years of age to operate your own personal cart on the course. No exceptions.

Stay on Cart Paths

Carts must remain on designated cart paths at all times, especially near greens, tees, and wet or soft areas. Driving off designated paths may result in additional charges for course damage.

90-Degree Rule

When the 90-degree rule is in effect, carts must travel on the cart path until directly adjacent to your ball, then drive straight out to the ball at a 90-degree angle. Return the same way.

Cart-Path Only

When conditions require cart-path only play, carts must remain on paved paths for the entire round. This rule is enforced to protect the course during wet conditions.

Responsibility for Damage

Players operating golf carts are fully responsible for any damage caused to the cart or to course property. Failure to follow cart rules may result in additional charges for repair or replacement.

Pace of Play

Keep Up with the Group Ahead

All players are expected to maintain a reasonable pace and keep up with the group ahead of them, not the group behind. A 9-hole round should be completed in approximately 2 hours.

Be Ready to Play

Be prepared to play when it is your turn. Select your club, assess your shot, and address the ball promptly. Limit practice swings to one or two.

Lost Ball Procedure

If you believe your ball may be lost, play a provisional ball before searching. Limit your search to 3 minutes. If the ball cannot be found, proceed under the applicable USGA rule.

Let Faster Groups Play Through

If your group falls more than one hole behind the group ahead, or if a group behind you is waiting consistently, invite the faster group to play through. This is a courtesy expected of all players.

Course Care

Repair Ball Marks

Always repair your ball marks on the green. Use a ball mark repair tool and press the edges toward the center, then smooth with your putter. Repair at least one additional mark you find.

Replace Divots

Replace divots on the fairway by placing the turf back in the divot hole and pressing it down firmly. If sand is available, fill the divot with sand mix.

Rake Bunkers

After playing from a bunker, rake the sand smooth and leave the rake outside the bunker or as posted by course signage. Leave the bunker in better condition than you found it.

No Damage to Course Property

Do not damage greens, tees, fairways, trees, vegetation, or any course equipment. Intentional or careless damage is subject to fines and removal from the premises. Players are financially responsible for any damage they cause.

Driving Range Safety

Wheatland Golf Club accepts no responsibility for damage done to vehicles or personal property when using the driving range. Park vehicles away from the range impact area.

General Conduct

Respect Other Players

Stand still and remain quiet when another player is addressing the ball or making a stroke. Do not walk through another player's line of sight or across their putting line on the green.

Tee Box Etiquette

Do not tee off until the group ahead is out of range. Honor the player with the lowest score on the previous hole by allowing them to tee off first.

On the Green

Do not step on another player's putting line. Tend the flagstick when asked. Remove the flagstick before putting if preferred. Leave the green promptly after completing the hole.

Sportsmanship

Play by the rules. Honest scoring and respect for the game are expected of all players. Disputes should be handled calmly and respectfully. Course staff have final authority on rule interpretations.

Noise & Distractions

Cell Phones

Set your phone to silent or vibrate while on the course. Step away from other players if you need to take a call. Avoid loud conversations near players who are preparing to hit.

Music

Bluetooth speakers are permitted at a reasonable volume that does not disturb other players or groups. If asked to lower the volume by course staff or other players, please do so immediately.

Dress Code

No Dress Code Required

Wheatland Golf Club does not enforce a formal dress code. We welcome golfers of all backgrounds and simply ask that you dress comfortably and appropriately for the conditions. Proper golf shoes or athletic footwear is recommended to protect the course.

Safety

Lightning & Severe Weather

If lightning is observed or the course horn sounds, all players must immediately leave the course and seek shelter. Do not resume play until the all-clear signal is given by course staff. Your safety is the top priority.

Yell 'Fore!'

If your ball is heading toward another player or group, immediately shout 'Fore!' loudly. This is a critical safety warning and should never be skipped.

Alcohol Policy

Alcohol is permitted on the course for adults 21 and over. Intoxicated behavior that disrupts other players or creates a safety concern will result in removal from the course.

Liability & Damage Disclaimer

Player Responsibility

Players are responsible for any damage they cause to the golf course, including greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, golf carts, and course equipment. Any damage — whether accidental or intentional — is subject to repair costs and additional fees as determined by course management.
